The Forest House & the Wildwood
A hearth at the edge of the Wildwood — where care, creativity, and the living spirit of the Earth meet.
The Forest House is both our home and the heart of East and West of the River Wellness — a hearth where care, creativity, and connection with the Earth are tended like a living fire.
It was first envisioned and purchased while on Vision Quest in Nova Scotia in 2000, after a time of deep soul-searching and life upheaval. Named from the inspiration of Marion Zimmer Bradley’s book, The Forest House — a story of women living reverently with nature while practicing the healing arts — a small cottage home where the heart could open and the spirit could be renewed.
Built in 2001, The Forest House has become that sanctuary: a place where beauty seeps into the bones, where peace gathers in quiet corners, and where transformation unfolds slowly, like the turning of the seasons.
Enchanted Forest. Magical Refuge.
Beyond the threshold of this home lies the Wildwood — the living, breathing spirit of the Windy Hill woodlands. Here, the untamed meets the tended. The Wildwood invites us into deeper relationship with nature’s cycles, offering its magic, mystery, and medicine to those who listen.
Through retreats and woodland walks, seasonal rituals and festivals, meditations and gatherings with herbalists, storytellers, and musicians in our amphitheater, we welcome you into this meeting place of Hearth and Wildwood.
The Forest House is our beloved dream — still unfolding, not yet “finished,” yet more than enough: a space of love, charm, and quiet transformation. Like each of us, it is a work in progress… and that is its grace.
