“Culture changes when a small group of people find a better way to live, and other people begin to copy them.”
A 4-week online journey + optional in-person retreat to nourish inner peace, renew your strength, and grow a culture of compassion—together.
The world is hurting. Many of us are feeling the weight of it: the grief, the injustice, the overwhelm. And yet, we also carry the seeds of change. Mindful Summer is here to nourish those seeds.
This is not a program for fixing yourself—or fixing the world overnight. It’s an invitation to pause, to breathe, and return to what matters most. Through mindfulness, gentle reflection, and community connection, we’ll tend our nervous systems, deepen our resilience, and root ourselves in what gives us life.
Designed with summer in mind: We know this season brings its own rhythms—vacations, caregiving, outdoor invitations, and precious time with loved ones. That’s why Mindful Summer was created with spaciousness in mind. Each session is short, restorative, and designed to recenter rather than overwhelm. Recordings are available if you miss a class, and reflection practices can be woven into your summer days with ease.
You will be supported, if this feels beneficial to you, in nourishing conversations with trusted friends or like-minded participants as part of your weekly integration—and if you wish, you can deepen your experience through an optional retreat at the end of the month. The retreat includes creative practices, gentle movement, and grounding somatic activities.
Whether you’re new to mindfulness or returning home to your practice, this series offers a place to replenish your body and spirit, reignite your courage, and reconnect with what truly sustains you—in yourself and our world.
The Why Behind Mindful Summer A gentle refuge. A growing ground. A way forward.
We are living through a time of profound uncertainty. Political and social unrest, climate disruption, isolation, and collective grief have left many of us feeling anxious, helpless, or quietly overwhelmed. Some of us are protesting. Some of us are frozen. Some are tending to family or community in quiet ways that go unseen.
Despite diverse backgrounds and opinions, most of us share this common ground: We care deeply. We long for healing and change. And we know that doing it alone isn’t working.
Mindful Summer is for those who are looking for a way to stay present—to grow our capacity to face what’s here with care, courage, and clarity. Whether you are new to mindfulness or an experienced activist seeking steadiness, this is a space to slow down, remember what matters, and begin again.
Inspired by the teachings of Rev. Angel Kyoto Williams, Adrienne Maree Brown, Tara Brach, Vivek Murthy and others, this program invites us to understand how social habits and disconnection have shaped our world—and how personal awareness can begin to transform them.
This is not a space for judgment, perfection, or one-size-fits-all solutions. It is a container for:
Building sanctuary in uncertain times
Growing the nervous system resilience we need for collective care
Creating the foundations of a ‘mycelial’ network—quiet, connected, alive beneath the surface to support both reflection and action
Contemplative practice helps us meet the moment from the inside out. It brings the brain into coherence, softens reactivity, and opens up creativity and clarity.
We become better able to:
Navigate stress without shutting down
Move from urgency into sustainable action
Reconnect with others in honest, meaningful ways
And perhaps most importantly, we become more available to what this moment is asking of us—not out of pressure or fear, but from a deeper truth rising up inside us.
We change when we are ready to stop running. We grow when we are met with kindness.
Let Mindful Summer be your place to pause, grow, and belong.
